I’ve been using a new tool for a number of months now with great success. It’s called the Periscope Basecamp Gadget and is installable on your iGoogle dashboard, allowing you to see all updates on your Basecamp accounts in one place quickly. The gadget works particularly well for me as practically all day I have my iGoogle homepage open, ready to answer my gmail, and use the other innovative Google tools and gadgets available.
Not only does the Basecamp gadget put everything into one place, it also dives deeper into your projects allowing you to see everything (as opposed to the RSS feed which restricts you from seeing all of the updated information in your Basecamp account and projects). For example one of the greatest features includes the ability to see completed to-dos. Previously I would have to routinely check a project to see if a task or to-do was complete. Now, the gadget shows me in real time, saving me lots of time on every project.
